Recent Updates

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog. I was hoping that when I first started blogging, I would do it more frequently. As a sort of “incentive”, I’m currently self-hosting the blog with DigitalOcean and paying a couple dollars a month to maintain it. Turns out, having to pay for it is not motivating enough for me 😅.

Anyways, life has been pretty good to me so far. The weather has suddenly taken a turn for the worse so I’ve had less chances to skateboard. Work is still busy as always, with a lot of exciting projects looming over the horizon. I’m still trying to write letters, although one recent letter I’ve written may be lost in the abyss of the Canada Post service unfortunately. I’m probably going to eventually rewrite the letter, but it really won’t be the same as the first one I sent.

Recently, I’ve been trying to be more involved in open-source projects. There’s a really nice dependency that my application, Eventful, uses for authorization called Canary. Unfortunately, the project is no longer being actively maintained and new pull requests are only being slowly merged in. I’ve contacted the maintainer on LinkedIn in the hopes that I could play a part in maintaining the project. Let’s hope that he gets back to me!

I’ve been leaning towards doing some creative writing recently. There’s a framework called Sugarcube that was supposedly popular in the earlier half of the previous decade. The concept seems cool and reminds me of RenPy which I’ve used before. I’ll try writing some stories; maybe I’ll post them on this blog once I’m done.

All of a sudden, there’s so much more that I want to do with my time. At the same time though, it might mean that I have less time to do each of these things. I’ll still try to stick to blogging more rigorously, I promise!
